Anatomy and Physiology

An understanding of Anatomy and Physiology is essential as the basis of all practical training courses in beauty and holistic therapy. The GTi Award in Anatomy and Physiology  covers all the Anatomy and Physiology required for Level 2 and Level 3 National Occupational Standards for beauty, nails and holistic therapy treatments (Equivalent to CVQ L2 and L3).

This course also includes a copy of the Guild’s full color 480 page Anatomy and Physiology text book which would normally cost $EC72.00

Professional Standards for Beauty Therapists

Please note: This course is a mandatory pre-requisite before completing any practical courses.

Professional Holistic Therapists should have a thorough knowledge of relevant legislation affecting the business they work in and must act professionally and ethically towards clients and colleges. Professional Holistic Therapists are also responsible for the health and safety of their clients and themselves.
The course in Professional Standards for Therapists covers all essential legislation and professional ethics required for working in the industry. This course is a pre-requisite for practical treatment courses with Gti. Once you have completed the Professional Standards for Therapists course you will continue to receive updates from the Gti of any changes to legislation that will affect the business you work in. This course is based on UK law but does apply to therapists working outside of the UK also.

Health and Safety

Being fully aware of Health and Safety is essential in any business, it protects the business owners, the staff and customers. Holistic Therapists need to know what health and safety legislation they are governed by, as well as understanding a safe way to complete day to day tasks.

The Gti course in Health & Safety covers all the essential legislation and information which is required when working in the beauty, nails and holistic industry. This course is highly recommended in support of professional memberships and valuable CPD for Allied Health registration in Saint Lucia.

Aromatherapy

Please note that although this is a theory only course there is an option to do an add on day with Tracey to learn how to adapt your body massage techniques to an Aromatherapy treatment. This would provide you with an additional certificate from Farrin Academy and is not part of the Gti certification. The Farrin Academy certificate serves as 6 CPD points. The Aromatherapy course covers the properties of essential oils and carrier oils and shows you how an Aromatherapy treatment with pre-blended oils can be an essential addition to your spa services. The course uses images, audio and online examinations to give you and interactive and enjoyable learning experience.

Starting your own business

This course has been developed for beauty and holistic therapists and nail technicians who want to open their own business. This course includes all the detail you require to set up in business, including planning the business model for a new business, buying an existing business, accountancy and administration.

Marketing your Business

This course has been developed for beauty and holistic therapists and nail technicians who already have their own business and are looking for effective ways to promote it. It is suitable for any beauty business regardless of size. The course covers all the essentials of marketing the business including an evaluation of different advertising methods including social media and a detailed explanation of the marketing mix.

Successful Retailing

Retailing is often an overlooked element in spas and nail salons and is sometimes seen as a difficult skill to acquire . This means that it often gets neglected in favor of promoting treatments rather than product sales. Many businesses miss out on increasing revenue and fulfilling their clients needs.

The GTi Sales course describes the seven step process in order to become a successful retailer. The course covers preparation, questioning of clients and demonstration of products. This course does not include online assessment but instead utilizes a detailed workbook with tasks relating to each module to allow the learner to apply their knowledge to their own working environment.
